Sheep Ear Tags

Tynedale 4 Tags, part of Tynedale Farm Services, is proud to be a DEFRA approved sheep ear tag supplier.

We offer electronic ID (EID) and non-EID sheep ear tags, all designed with durability and retention in mind. Choose from a range of sheep tag colours, and order from us online for fast delivery. We also offer a range of sheep ear tagging accessories, including an EID reader.

To comply with sheep EID tagging rules, the Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs (DEFRA) states that sheep must carry ear tags within 6 months if they’re housed overnight, or within 9 months of birth if they’re not housed overnight. This does not apply to any lambs that you’ve identified for slaughter within 12 months.

When you order your sheep tags online from us, we need you to complete a simple form. We’ll need to know:

• Your county parish holding (CPH) number
• Your flock or herd mark (this will appear on the identifiers we supply you).

We will then source official identification numbers for your sheep from the GB Ear Tag Allocation System (ETAS) which we’ll print on your sheep ear tags or encode into the electronic sheep tags. Normally, each sheep will carry two ear tags: one with the head/flock identification number and another with the sheep’s individual identification number.

We believe our tags are of the highest quality, but you might find you need to replace a lost or damaged identifier. You must do this within 28 days of noticing it’s missing.
